Born of a Haitian mother, and Angolan Father, Angie, considers herself to have an “international” life style; a term which fits her multi-cultural background. Born in Congo RDC, she’d traveled the world since her third month of existence while struggling to survive Sickle Cell Anemia.
This article or exposé rather will deal with the multifaceted issue of the fatherless generation and its impact on today’s society. Moreover I will also speak from personal experience and that of a multitude of youths interviewed to give a child’s perspective on the matter.
Being raised in environments where values are not only virtuous but a set way of life which ties in with century old traditions, which predominantly reinforces the importance and value of marriage and community; Children grow up with a true sense of belonging to a community, compassion and empathy for others not just in their immediate community but people in general.
